Cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is one of the most popular hedging plants in Hungary – and for good reason. It grows fast, its glossy evergreen leaves form a solid green wall all year round, and it copes well with pruning, urban conditions and Hungarian winters alike. We provide complete cherry laurel planting, from soil preparation through planting to aftercare advice.
The key to a successful cherry laurel hedge is quality plant material and careful planting. We work exclusively with container-grown, well-rooted plants from certified nurseries – most often the fast-growing 'Rotundifolia', the compact 'Novita' and the winter-hardy 'Caucasica' varieties. During installation we excavate the planting strip, improve the soil with a nutrient-rich planting medium, plant at the right density (typically 2–3 plants per running metre), then water in thoroughly and mulch the area on request. We can also install drip irrigation, which is the greatest help during the first two years of establishment. Both our workmanship and the plants are covered by our guarantee.
