How Much Does Hedge Planting Cost?
What makes up the price of a hedge, and what our quote includes
We don't publish a fixed price list, because the price of a hedge depends on many things: the species and size of the plants, changing nursery prices, the condition of the soil and how accessible the site is. Instead, we show you what the cost is made up of. After the free survey we give you an itemised quote, with plants, materials and labour each on a separate line.
Plants
Usually the biggest item. Species and size are what count: a 150–200 cm plant costs considerably more but screens immediately, while a smaller one is cheaper but takes longer to close up. The number of plants follows from the length of the hedge and the spacing.
Soil preparation and planting medium
Excavating the planting strip and improving the soil with a nutrient-rich planting medium. Stony or heavy soil, or soil full of old roots, needs more work and more material.
Planting labour
Planting along a string line and watering in. The amount of work depends on the number of plants, their size and how accessible the site is.
Delivery and call-out
Transporting the plants and getting our team to your site. There is no call-out charge within Keszthely; for towns further away we group the jobs into dedicated days, which is also reflected in the price.
Optional extras
Drip irrigation with a timer, and mulching. Drip irrigation is installed at a discount when ordered together with hedge planting.
Removing the old hedge
If a dried-out thuja row currently stands there: felling, root removal and green-waste disposal. Combined with the new planting in a hedge replacement package, it costs less.

The most common questions and answers about hedge planting
Both are excellent choices, but for different needs. Cherry laurel forms a dense, solid green wall with its large glossy leaves and takes trimming very well. Leyland cypress is the fastest-growing evergreen hedge plant – up to 80–100 cm per year – and its fine, dense foliage gives tall, solid screening in a short time. During the on-site survey we help you choose the plant best suited to your garden.
